He is right, of course, but unfortunately he lacks the philosophical foundation necessary to grasp the manner in which two ideas have eviscerated American's "spirit of resistance" -- the first idea being the notion that one must sacrifice for, and show deference to, in all cases and all respects "others", any "others", any non-you, no matter how overtly evil or repugnant, which of course is the anti-morality known as altruism that is passively accepted by the great majority of Americans -- and the second idea is the widespread, dogmatic devotion to the principle that one should never rely on principles -- which is the pragmatism that our intellectuals would defend to the death.

In my opinion, it is the influence of these two ideas that has left Europe helpless -- and is rapidly debilitating America -- before the onslaught of Islam. Multiculturalism is not a primary -- it is only one specific, inevitable manifestation of the two more fundamental ideas. The real battle is in ethics and epistemology, not politics or culture.

But I would say absolutely nothing to discourage Mr. Wilders and will, to the contrary, do everything I can to support his efforts -- while at the same time supporting the effort to spread Objectivism. Miss Rand said bad ideas can only be fought by means of better ideas. And she gave us the greatest collection of philosophical weapons -- the right ideas -- ever unleased -- Atlas Shrugged and the moral/epistemological revolution dramatized therein. So let's all fight on.Michael Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03385208071107592989noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5200276.post-62000730175097250482011-05-19T07:35:30.600-04:002011-05-19T07:35:30.600-04:00I say drop the Judeo-Christian prefix because it i...I say drop the Judeo-Christian prefix because it is unnecessary and undesired in a principled defense of individual rights.Randyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14871995062048215902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5200276.post-43320794994126161662011-05-19T07:33:54.764-04:002011-05-19T07:33:54.764-04:00Geert is the closest thing I have to a modern day ...Geert is the closest thing I have to a modern day hero, I just wish he would drop Judeo-Christian prefix from his statement on Western values.

Even still, his courage is unprecedented for a politician, from Europe no less, in our day and age and I wholeheartedly support him in as far as his goals are reasoned and rational.Randyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14871995062048215902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5200276.post-51410530265245948262011-05-17T17:50:21.070-04:002011-05-17T17:50:21.070-04:00Parille: You aren't worthy of polishing Wilder...Parille: You aren't worthy of polishing Wilders' shoes. When is the last time you were on trial for speaking your mind? Ever stick your neck out for a principle? Ever risk your life for a right? All you seem to be capable of is snickering, making snide remarks, and cracking unwisely. That's the limit of your "courage." You're nothing but an effete nihilist. Go troll on Anna Huffington's site, or George Soros's. I'm sure they'd appreciate your two-penny comments.

Ed ClineEdward Clinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12160209827969614964noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5200276.post-44691004757986922102011-05-17T15:20:24.306-04:002011-05-17T15:20:24.306-04:00Brilliant response, Slade. The anti-Catholic government of Spain is pro-Islam.

It would be nice if Objectivists start to reconsider their opposition to Christianity and their support for "open immigration."Neil Parillehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11074901258306769278noreply@blogger.com
