Sen. Edward Kennedy plans to do everything he can to defeat the proposed use of school vouchers in the nation's capital, his spokesman said Thursday.Leave aside whether or not you think vouchers are a good way to challenge the public school monopoly. Why is it you never read about a senator who "plans to do everything he can" to abolish the Department of Education or bring the free market to education? And why did the AP lead its story with Kennedy? Isn't the real prime mover of this story those who are pushing the school vouchers in Congress. Why, as a barrier to vouchers, does Kennedy lead, and not voucher proponents?
